Oh the Places you'll Go!

My favorite quote is From my favorite childhood book Oh the Places you'll Go, by Dr. Seuss “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”. This quote and book makes me think about how I control my own destiny and that you can teach children how to make positive choices.

  1. It is true that we have majority control of the path that our lives take. As care givers it is important to assist children in taking responsibility for the choices they make as small as they may be. Setting that foundation is very important.

  2. Another great book by Dr. Seuss! I also like The Sneetches. Dr. Seuss's books have valuable lessons we should all learn from. I agree that you can steer yourself in any direction you choose, and teaching children to make positive choices makes a valuable impact on society because they will learn how to grow into healthy, productive adults.
I also noticed and wanted to comment on the importance of the nature of your current job: consulting with different centers on classroom setup and design as well as developmentally appropriate practices helps others steer in the right direction: sometimes simple changes in either of these areas make huge impacts on the classroom and the students therein, improving their lives, their education, and making classroom management much easier for the educator.

  3. Your quote has a lot of meaning. "You are the one that controls your destiny" this is so true. You know it always comes down to making the right choice. As an educator we really do teach children important things and help them on the path to controlling their destiny.
    Best of Luck, Diana
