UNESCO - International

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization site stands for equity for all children as it relates to comprehensive education, accessibility to services for the poor, and endorse quality. These are all issues that I focus on professionally. This organization endorses having comprehensive education and care is a goal for all young children of the UNESCO. They focus on ways to help disadvantaged children by making sure they have commitment from countries in providing equity in early care programs. As we have discussed numerous times that a great early start leads to an even better finish. This is a goal of mine is to help providers realize what quality looks like and making sure the service the providers has equity for the young they are serving.

Through partnerships the UNESCO is help governments recognize that for equability to be possible there is a need for a connection to resources. These resources to the less advantage is one factor but I feel that all families no matter socioeconomic statuses, educational backgrounds, race or creed can benefit from resources.  Whether the resources are simply informational purposes, I think sometimes in the field we think we should only connect families in need to resources.

  2. I love that the UNESCO is one that thinks that resources to connect everyone, putting everyone on an even playing field when it comes to knowledge and how/where to ask the right questions. I have never really taken a look at this group, but I am glad that so many people this week chose to take a closer look, as it has given me more insight to it as well. I also like that they make sure children are getting the education they need by getting commitments from the countries they live in. I am interested to find out more about what those might entail and what incentives they might offer for those countries to participate. Thank you for sharing this week.

  3. Helping children and providing them with a solid foundation regarding education is the heart of early childhood education. There are so many children who are at a disadvantage that it is sometimes hard for them to receive a quality education. Children arne Families are is such a strong need to receive the benefit of high quality education.
